Background
Janet Marie is a community leader and communications expert with 15 years of experience advising executives and and nonprofit leadership on strategy, building and leading teams in creative and operational execution, and cultivating partnerships that advance organizational missions. She is deeply rooted in the Newnan-Coweta community with a proven record of driving results across nonprofit, government, and private sectors.
While her B.A. is in Public Relations, Janet Marie was originally accepted into Auburn University’s competitive Interior Design program. Style, art, and design continue to be a dominant feature in her work as she builds campaigns and communications products. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Tourism Management, an R1 considered to be in the top bracket internationally, and published a graduate thesis focusing on regional cultural festivals. Much of this thesis focused on how themes of authenticity, history, and nostalgia create a sense of place, leading to a passion for city planning that was further stoked by her years working for Serenbe Development.
Janet Marie enjoys traveling, being on stage at the local theatre, and volunteering in the community - leading to a nomination for 2025 Coweta County Citizen of the Year. You can find her on the City of Newnan Planning Commission, working with kids at Kate’s Club, on the chair board for the Newnan Junior Service League, and on stage at Newnan Theatre Company.
